What shapes your offer
The exact reference
Rolex reuses names across many generations, so a Submariner from one era can be a very different watch from the next.
Case and bracelet condition
Sharp, crisp lug edges and original case proportions matter more than a mirror shine.
Original dial, hands and bezel
A dial, hand set or bezel insert that left the factory with the watch is worth more to a buyer than a replacement.
Box, papers and extras
A complete set of box, papers, hang tags and the original purchase paperwork helps the offer.
Before you send it
- Photograph the dial, caseback, both sides of the case and the clasp in daylight, without filters.
- Do not polish the case or bracelet, and do not have it serviced or the dial touched up before you send it.
- Keep every removed bracelet link and any extra pieces.
- Gather the box, papers, hang tags, receipts and any service records, and tell us where and roughly when you bought it.
- If you do not know the reference, say so and send the photos anyway.
Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.
How trade-in worksQuestions
How do I sell a Rolex without box and papers?
You can. Many Rolex watches change hands without the original set. Send clear photos of the dial, caseback and clasp, and tell us what you do have, such as a receipt or a past service slip. The offer reflects the missing set, and the watch is checked on our bench before it is final.
Should I service my Rolex before selling it?
No. A service by an outside shop can replace parts and polish the case, which can work against you. Send it as it is and keep any earlier service paperwork. We judge the watch in its current state.
Why is the dealer offer below my insurance appraisal?
An insurance appraisal usually states what it would cost to replace the watch through a retail channel. A dealer offer is based on what the watch can be resold for after it has been inspected and put back in the case. The two answer different questions, so they rarely match.
Where is a good place to sell a Rolex?
You can sell privately, through an auction or consignment, or to a dealer. Private sales and consignment can take time and involve strangers. A dealer gives you a firm offer without waiting for a buyer, though the dealer has to resell it. Ours comes from a dealer on our desk, usually the same business day, with no obligation.
How much is my Rolex worth?
We do not publish figures, because the answer depends on the reference, condition, originality, and whether you have the set. The quickest way to find out is to send the details with your asking price. A dealer replies with a firm offer.
Which Rolex models hold demand best?
Steel sports models such as the Submariner, GMT-Master II and Daytona tend to be the easiest to place, and the Datejust is the broadest family. Precious-metal watches like the Day-Date are driven by metal, dial and condition. A model's reputation matters less than the specific reference you own.
Can I put my Rolex toward another watch?
Yes. You can apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell, or take cash. The desk confirms payment details with you.
What if the watch is not as I described it?
An offer made from photos and a description is indicative until the watch is on our bench. If an inspection turns up something different, such as a replaced dial or an aftermarket part, the desk will explain what we found and the offer may change. You are under no obligation to accept.
