Founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in Sonvilier, Switzerland, Chopard has evolved from a precision pocket-watch maker into a vertically integrated manufacture producing both movements and cases in-house in Geneva. Privately owned by the Scheufele family since 1963, the house occupies a distinctive position straddling high jewellery and serious watchmaking — most visible in its commitment to ethical Fairmined gold since 2013.
