Buying a pre-owned Audemars Piguet

Learn the reference code

An Audemars Piguet reference starts with the model number, then letters that point to the case material.

Check the tapisserie dial

The checked tapisserie pattern should be crisp, evenly cut and regular across the dial.

Check the bezel, the case and the finishing

The octagonal bezel has eight screws, and their slots should line up neatly.

Look hard at the bracelet

A Royal Oak bracelet is made for its own case and is not interchangeable with a generic one.

Which one is for you

If you want the classic...

Start with the Royal Oak: the octagonal bezel, the tapisserie dial, the bracelet in one flowing line.

If you want something bigger and bolder...

Look at the Royal Oak Offshore.

If you want to avoid the octagon...

The Code 11.59 has a round case and curved crystal, and the Millenary has an oval case with an off-centre dial.

Questions

What Audemars Piguet watches do you have?

Mostly Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore, with occasional Code 11.59, Concept and other models. The selection changes, so check the current listings or call the desk on (213) 373-4424.

What is the difference between a Royal Oak and an Offshore?

The Royal Oak, introduced in 1972, is slimmer and more refined, with an octagonal bezel, a tapisserie dial and an integrated bracelet. The Offshore, introduced in 1993, is larger and thicker with a sportier look. They share the same DNA but live very differently on the wrist.

Can you find a specific Audemars Piguet reference?

That is what the special order service is for. Send the reference and your budget, and the desk replies with a quote. Nothing is paid before price and availability are confirmed. After payment, expect 7-10 business days. Special orders are final sale unless the watch is defective or not as described.

What comes with an Audemars Piguet from you?

Every watch we sell comes with a 2-year store warranty on the movement (ours, not the manufacturer's), a MyLuxApp-certified written appraisal and a presentation box. Shipping is free, insured and overnight on orders of $1,000 and over, with a signature required.

Can I trade a Rolex toward an Audemars Piguet?

Yes. Trade credit applies to any watch we sell. Send us the Rolex through the sell page, take the firm offer, and apply the full agreed value toward the Audemars Piguet. You can also take cash instead.

Why do Audemars Piguet references get discontinued, and why does it matter to a buyer?

The maker updates its lines with new proportions, movements and dials, and retires the old reference. A retired reference can no longer be ordered new, so pre-owned or a sourced piece is the route. Check the exact reference, dial and bracelet you are being offered.

How can I pay?

By card (a 3.5% fee applies, and a lower wire price is shown beside it), bank wire or crypto, which the desk handles directly with you. Affirm and Klarna are available on eligible orders.

Can I return it?

Unworn in-stock pieces can be returned: you have 7 days from delivery to start a return. Special orders are final sale unless defective or not as described.
