What shapes your offer
The exact reference
Panerai has used PAM numbers for decades, and a small change in the number can mean a different case, dial, movement or edition.
Case size and style
Panerai watches are large, and the case size is a big part of who wants them.
Movement and complications
Some Panerai use a simple hand-wound or automatic movement, some add a power reserve, a GMT or a flyback chronograph.
Lume, dial and crown guard
The dial should be clean with even lume, and the crown guard should be intact and sit flush.
Before you send it
- Do not polish, clean or service the watch before sending it.
- Find the PAM reference on the case back or in your papers, and write it down exactly.
- Collect every strap, the original buckle, any tools, the box and the papers, and photograph them together.
- Take daylight photos of the dial, the crown guard, both sides of the case and the case back.
- Tell us how the watch runs, and when it was last serviced if you know.
Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.
How trade-in worksQuestions
Do you buy Panerai watches?
Yes, when they are valued at $2,000 or more. Send the model, PAM reference, condition, box and papers, photos and your asking price. A dealer replies with a firm offer, usually the same business day.
What is the difference between a Luminor and a Radiomir?
The Luminor has a crown-protecting guard on the case, while the earlier Radiomir does not. The Radiomir's cushion-shaped case is simpler. Tell us which you have, since they are bought differently.
My Panerai is a limited edition. Does that matter?
Yes, it can. Limited and special editions are judged on their documents and condition. Send the reference, the edition details and anything that came with it.
Does a missing box or papers change the offer?
It does change the offer, because the next buyer has less to go on, but it rarely ends the conversation. Tell us exactly what you have.
Is the offer final before you see the watch?
The dealer means the offer, but it is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. If it is as described, the offer stands.
Can I put the value toward another watch?
Yes. Take cash, or apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell. The desk confirms payment details with you.
Should I replace the strap before selling?
No. Keep the original strap and buckle exactly as they are, and send any extra straps along with it. We would rather see the watch as it is.
How do I get the watch to you?
Send it on a prepaid insured label, or bring it to our desk in downtown Los Angeles by appointment, Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm Pacific. Call (213) 373-4424 or email sales@mywatchdealer.com.
