Buying
Can I just walk in and buy a Rolex?
We are in the downtown Los Angeles jewelry district, and visits are by appointment, Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm Pacific. Call (213) 373-4424 or write to sales@mywatchdealer.com to set a time, and tell us which pieces you would like to see. Read more
Is this site reputable?
We are an independent dealer, not affiliated with any watch brand, with a real showroom in downtown Los Angeles and a phone number on every page. We are members of IWJG, NAWCC and TAWD. Every watch is checked on our own bench and comes with a 2-year store warranty and a written appraisal. Please read our terms rather than taking our word for it. Read more
How much should I pay for a used Rolex Submariner?
It depends on the exact reference, the condition, whether the dial and bezel are original, the metal, and whether the original box and papers are included. The sensible way to judge a price is to compare listings of the same reference in the same condition and with the same set. Every listing of ours shows a card price and a wire price side by side, and the desk will talk through a particular piece. Read more
Do you have a Rolex Datejust for sale?
Our stock changes as pieces sell, so the listings on the site are the best guide. If you do not see the reference you want, send it to the desk and we can look for it as a special order, quoting you first. Read more
Can I make an offer on a listed watch?
Yes. The desk reviews offers on listed pieces. The offer form asks for your offer amount, so please enter the figure you have in mind. The desk reviews it and gets back to you. Nothing is owed unless you accept. Read more
Do you sell direct, and are your prices dealer direct?
We sell directly to the public, and we are an independent dealer. We do not claim to have the lowest price. We show the reference, condition and what comes with each watch so that you can compare like with like, and we show a card price and a lower wire price side by side. Read more
What is the 3 watch rule?
It is a rule of thumb among collectors, not one of ours, and it comes in a few versions. The common one suggests owning three watches that suit three parts of your life, such as a dress watch, an everyday watch and a sports watch. It is a handy way to see what is missing from your collection before you buy.
What is the best website to buy and sell used watches?
There is no single best one. Judge any seller on its terms: who stands behind the watch, the return window, the warranty, the shipping insurance, the payment methods and the photographs of the actual piece. Our guide to buying a luxury watch online safely gives the checklist, and it applies to us too.
Where are your terms and conditions?
They are on our terms page. The pages for returns, warranty, shipping and payment hold the details for each. Read more
What do you do with my personal information?
We use it to answer your enquiry, process your order and ship your watch. Our privacy page explains what we collect, who processes it for us, and your rights, including the California privacy rights to know, correct and delete your information. Read more
Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit card, bank wire, and crypto, which the desk handles with you directly. On eligible orders, Affirm and Klarna are available too. A card carries a 3.5% fee, and a lower wire price is shown beside the card price on each listing. Read more
Why is the wire price lower than the card price?
Paying by card carries a 3.5% processing fee. A bank wire does not, so the wire price is lower. The watch, the warranty and the appraisal are the same whichever way you pay. Read more
Can I finance a Rolex?
On eligible orders, Affirm and Klarna are offered at checkout. Financing is subject to the lender's approval, and we cannot promise an approval or a particular term. Eligibility depends on the order. Read more
Can I pay with crypto?
Yes. Crypto is handled desk to buyer, so you speak with a person on our desk who confirms the details with you. Crypto payments cannot be reversed once they are sent, which is a good reason to confirm the watch, the price and the terms before paying. Read more
Why do you ask for ID on larger orders?
A chargeback is when a cardholder disputes a payment with the card issuer after the watch has shipped, including fraud by someone using a stolen card. For high-value orders we may hold the order for ID and billing checks before we ship, to make sure the card belongs to the person buying. It protects the cardholder as well as us. Read more
Is sales tax added to my order?
Sales tax is calculated at checkout. If you have a question about your own situation, ask the desk before you order. Read more
Do you offer layaway, or can you hold a watch for me?
We do not have a layaway program. If you need a little time, the desk can discuss a courtesy hold on a particular piece, but nothing is promised until we confirm it in writing. Read more

How and when will I be refunded?
Refunds go back to the original payment method, within 5 business days of our bench inspection of the returned watch. Read more
Can I return a special order?

Warranty
What warranty comes with the watch?
Every watch we sell comes with a 2-year store warranty covering the movement. It is our warranty, not the manufacturer's, because we are an independent dealer. Read more

It covers the movement. The case, crystal, dial, bezel and bracelet are not covered. Read the warranty page before you buy, so you know what is and is not included. Read more
How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact the desk first and describe the problem. The watch then comes to our bench in Los Angeles to be assessed, so please send it insured and keep your tracking. Read more
Does the brand's own warranty come with the watch?
No. We are an independent dealer, not affiliated with any watch brand, so the brand's own warranty is not part of the sale. What we provide is our own 2-year store warranty, a written appraisal and a presentation box with every watch. Read more
Authenticity
How do I tell if my Rolex is real?
No single feature settles it, and a quick look at the dial or the rehaut proves little. The reliable way is to have a qualified watchmaker open the watch and examine the movement and the case. If you plan to sell, we inspect every watch on our bench in Los Angeles. Read more
How can I authenticate a Rolex without papers?
Papers are not proof anyway, since a card can belong to another watch. A watchmaker can check the movement, the case and the serial and reference numbers. Our appraisal page explains the options for a watch you own. Read more
Are the watches you sell genuine?
Yes. Every watch is checked on our own bench before it ships, and each one comes with a written appraisal certified through MyLuxApp. Our authenticity page explains what we stand behind. Read more
What does box and papers mean on your listings?
It means the original manufacturer's box and papers. Every watch we sell also ships with our own presentation box and appraisal, so a watch listed without its original set still arrives well presented. Read more
Can I get a second opinion on a watch I bought from you?
You can. Your return rights are set out on the returns page, so read them first. If you want a watchmaker to look at the watch, tell the desk and we will explain how that fits with the 7 days you have to start a return. Read more
Selling to us
How do I sell my watch to you?
Use the sell form and tell us the brand, the model and reference, the condition, whether you have the box and papers, and your asking price, with photos. A dealer replies with a firm offer, usually the same business day. There is no obligation. Read more
Why do you ask for my asking price?
It tells the dealer what you have in mind, so the reply can be a firm offer that fits. Our minimum value is $2,000, because we buy and sell only watches at that level. Read more
Is the offer final?
An offer made from photos and a description is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. You are under no obligation to accept. Read more
How do I get my watch to you?
Send it on a prepaid insured label, or bring it to the desk by appointment. We inspect it on our bench in Los Angeles. Read more

Can I sell a Rolex to a pawn shop instead?
You can, but a pawn shop is set up mainly to lend against items, not to deal in luxury watches. If you want to sell, ask for a firm offer from a watch dealer as well, and weigh the two side by side. Read more
