What shapes your offer
The full reference code
Audemars Piguet references read like a code.
Royal Oak or Offshore
People often use the names interchangeably, but they are different watches.
Case finishing and the dial pattern
Royal Oak cases alternate brushed and polished surfaces, with fine bevels.
The bracelet is part of the watch
On a Royal Oak the bracelet flows straight out of the case, and a replacement is not interchangeable with a generic one.
Before you send it
- Write down the full reference code from your papers or the caseback, not just the first digits.
- Gather the box, papers, spare links or straps and any service receipts.
- Do not polish it, service it or have the bracelet resized before you send it.
- Photograph the dial, bezel screws, case sides, caseback, clasp and the full bracelet in daylight.
- Decide on your asking price.
Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.
How trade-in worksQuestions
What do you need to give me an offer on my Audemars Piguet?
The brand, model and full reference, the condition, whether you have the box and papers, your asking price and a few clear photos. The asking price is required, and the minimum value we work with is $2,000.
Does a missing box change the offer?
It can, a little. Missing papers usually matter more than a missing box, and both matter more on a recent watch. Tell us what you have and what you do not, and the dealer will take it into account.
Do you only buy Royal Oaks?
No. The Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore are the lines most people send, but we also look at the Royal Oak Concept, Code 11.59, Millenary and Jules Audemars. The watch should be valued at $2,000 or more.
Why do Audemars Piguet references get discontinued, and does it matter when I sell?
The maker refreshes its lines with new proportions, movements or dials, retiring the old reference. Reasons are not always given. It matters because the reference tells us which generation you have, so please send the whole code.
Can I put the value toward another watch?
Yes. You can apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell, whether that is a Patek Philippe, a Rolex or another Audemars Piguet. Or you can take cash. The desk confirms payment details with you.
Should I polish my Royal Oak before selling?
No. Polishing rounds the fine bevels and can change the case lines for good, which we can see. Send the watch as it is.
Is the first offer final?
An offer made from photos and a description is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. If the watch is as described, the offer stands. If it differs, the dealer will tell you what and why.
Can I bring the watch in rather than ship it?
Yes, by appointment at our downtown Los Angeles jewelry district desk, Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm Pacific. You can also ship it on a prepaid insured label. Call (213) 373-4424 or write to sales@mywatchdealer.com.
