What shapes your offer
Metal
A Day-Date is only ever made in gold or platinum, and the metal is the first thing that shapes our offer.
Generation and size
The earliest Day-Dates from 1956 are slim 36mm watches.
Dial and gem setting
Day-Dates come with plain dials, roman numerals, diamond-set dials and gem-set bezels.
President bracelet
The President bracelet is part of the watch's identity.
Before you send it
- Photograph the dial straight on, both sides of the case, the clasp and the full President bracelet laid flat.
- Find the box, papers and any spare links, and note the reference if you can read it.
- Do not polish, service or resize the watch.
- Mention any gem setting you know was added after the factory.
Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.
How trade-in worksQuestions
Is a Day-Date the same as a Datejust?
No. The Datejust shows the date only and comes in steel, two-tone and gold. The Day-Date shows the day spelled out in full as well as the date, and has only ever been made in gold or platinum. The Day-Date is also the one on the President bracelet. We list and price them separately.
What moves the price of a Rolex Day-Date?
Metal, size, generation, dial, whether any gems are original, condition and the box and papers. Unpolished cases with original dials do best. Tell us your asking price and we will send a firm figure.
Do you buy platinum Day-Dates?
Yes. Platinum is one of the metals we look at. The desk will confirm the metal on inspection.
Does the language of the day matter?
The day can be printed in different languages. It is worth mentioning in your submission. We check it when we inspect the watch.
Do I need the box and papers?
No, but they help. An offer made from photos is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles.
How does selling work?
Submit the brand, reference, condition, box and papers, and your asking price with photos. A dealer replies with a firm offer, usually the same business day, with no obligation. You can ship on a prepaid insured label or bring it to the desk by appointment. The desk confirms payment details with you.
Can I take trade credit instead of cash?
Yes. You can take cash or apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell.
Downtown Los Angeles, by appointment. Mon–Fri 10am–6pm Pacific.
