What shapes your offer

An unpolished case counts

The Calatrava is a simple shape, so its beauty depends on the lines being exact.

Dial and hands

On a plain dial every flaw shows.

Which Calatrava it is

The name stretches from classic hand-wound and automatic dress models to the weekly calendar 5212 and the Pilot Travel Time 5524.

Current or retired

Patek updates the line, and a retired Calatrava cannot be reordered.

Before you send it

  • Write down the full reference with the dash number from your papers or the caseback.
  • Gather the box, papers, original strap and buckle and any service receipts.
  • Do not polish it or service it before sending.
  • Photograph the dial, case sides, lugs, caseback and buckle in daylight.
Want to trade instead?

Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.

Questions

Do I need the Extract from the Archives to sell my Calatrava?

No. You can ask for an offer with the reference, photos and your asking price. On an older Calatrava, an Extract from the Archives from Patek, which confirms the watch's characteristics and year of manufacture, is a useful extra, so include it if you have it.

Does a missing box change the offer?

It can, a little, and more on a recent watch than an older one. Missing papers usually matter more. Tell us what you have, and the dealer will take it into account.

Does polishing matter on a Calatrava?

A lot. The shape is simple and the lines are the whole point. Polishing rounds those lines, and we can see it. Please do not polish a watch before sending it.

Why do Patek references get discontinued?

Patek updates its lines by retiring a reference and introducing a new one. The maker does not usually explain each change. It matters to you because a retired reference cannot be ordered new, so we need the full reference to know which Calatrava you have.

Can I put the value toward another watch?

Yes. You can apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell. Or you can take cash. The desk confirms payment details with you.

Is the first offer final?

An offer made from photos and a description is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. If it is as described, the offer stands. If it differs, the dealer will explain.

What is the minimum value you buy?

We buy watches valued at $2,000 or more. Your asking price is required with your request.
