Datejusts run from small ladies' sizes up to 41mm, and a 36mm from the earlier sapphire-crystal years is a different watch from a…

Metal

Plain steel, steel with a gold bezel and center links, and solid gold all sit in different places for us.

Dial and bezel

Original dials, hands and bezels carry the offer.

Bracelet and fit

The Jubilee, Oyster and President bracelets each age differently.

Before you send it

  • Photograph the dial straight on, both sides of the case, the bezel, the clasp, and the full bracelet laid flat.
  • Gather the box, papers, warranty card and any spare links.
  • Do not polish, service or resize the watch before you send it.
  • Tell us honestly about any dial or bezel that was replaced or set with stones afterward.

Questions

What moves the price of a Rolex Datejust?

Size, metal, dial, bezel, condition and whether the box and papers are with it. Original, unpolished pieces with the factory dial do best. Gem-set work done after the factory and a stretched bracelet pull an offer down. Tell us your asking price and we will respond with a firm figure.

Is the Date the same as the Datejust?

No. The Oyster Perpetual Date is a separate, smaller 34mm line with its own dial wording. The Datejust is a different line with more sizes and bezel styles. Both are welcome, and we price them separately.

Do you buy older Datejusts from before the sapphire-crystal years?

Yes, when the piece is valued at $2,000 or more. For vintage ones, an original dial and a case that has not been over-polished matter most.

Do I need the box and papers?

No, but they help. Without them we rely on photos and then the bench inspection in Los Angeles. An offer made from photos is indicative until the watch is inspected.

My Datejust has a diamond dial. Does that change things?

It can, in either direction. A factory diamond dial is valued for the dial itself. A dial added after the factory is treated differently. Send clear photos and tell us what you know of its history.

How does selling work?

Submit the brand, reference, condition, box and papers, and your asking price with photos. A dealer replies with a firm offer, usually the same business day, with no obligation. You can ship on a prepaid insured label or bring it to the desk by appointment. The desk confirms payment details with you.

Can I put the value toward another watch?

Yes. You can take cash or apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell.
