What shapes your offer

The strap is half the story

The Aquanaut's patterned rubber-type strap is made to match the dial, and it wears.

Which Aquanaut it is

The line stretches from the time-and-date 5167 and the larger 5168 to the 5164 travel time and the 5968 chronograph.

Dial and case condition

The embossed grid dial should be crisp with even printing, and the octagonal bezel should still have clear edges.

Current or retired

Patek updates the line, and a retired Aquanaut cannot be reordered.

Before you send it

  • Write down the full reference with the dash number from your papers or the caseback.
  • Gather the box, papers, any spare strap or bracelet and service receipts.
  • Do not polish it, service it or replace the strap just to sell it.
  • Photograph the dial, case sides, caseback, strap and clasp in daylight.
Want to trade instead?

Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.

Questions

Do I need the Extract from the Archives to sell my Aquanaut?

No. You can ask for an offer with the reference, photos and your asking price. If you have an Extract from the Archives, include it. It confirms the watch's characteristics and year of manufacture.

Does a missing box change the offer?

It can, a little. Missing papers usually matter more. Tell us what you have, and the dealer will take it into account.

Does a worn strap lower the offer?

A worn or cracked strap can be taken into account, so show it honestly in the photos. Please do not replace it just to sell. We want to see what the watch has been through.

Why does the exact reference matter on an Aquanaut?

The same name covers time-and-date, travel time, chronograph and ladies' models, in several metals and dials. Patek retires references when it updates a line. The whole reference, dash included, tells us exactly which watch it is.

Can I put the value toward another watch?

Yes. You can apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell, from another Patek Philippe to an Audemars Piguet or a Rolex. Or you can take cash. The desk confirms payment details with you.

Is the first offer final?

An offer made from photos and a description is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. If it is as described, the offer stands. If it differs, the dealer will explain.

What is the minimum value you buy?

We buy watches valued at $2,000 or more. Your asking price is required with your request.
