Buying a pre-owned Panerai

Luminor or Radiomir

The easiest way to tell is the crown.

Pick the case size first

Panerai cases are large.

Read the dial and the lume

A Panerai dial is simple, so flaws show.

Movement type and power reserve

Panerai uses hand-wound and automatic movements, and some models add a long power reserve, a GMT or a flyback chronograph.

Which one is for you

If you want the classic Panerai look

Start with the Luminor Marina, which has the crown guard and a plain, readable dial.

If you want a long power reserve

The Luminor Base 8 Days is hand-wound and runs for eight days between windings.

If you like complications

The Luminor Flyback gives you a chronograph with a flyback function in the Luminor case.

Questions

What is the difference between a Luminor and a Radiomir?

The Luminor has a crown-protecting guard, and the earlier Radiomir does not. Both use a cushion-shaped case. If you want the more recognizable Panerai look, the Luminor is the one most people picture.

What size Panerai should I buy?

The classic size is 44mm, which suits most wrists that are average or larger. Smaller wrists often do better with 40mm or 42mm cases. If you are unsure, send your wrist size to the desk and we will suggest a size.

What does the PAM number mean?

It is Panerai's reference number. A small change in the number can mean a different case, dial, movement or edition, so we list the exact PAM number on each watch.

Does a missing box or papers matter?

It matters for completeness, but not for how the watch performs. We show clearly what comes with each watch. Every watch we sell comes with our own presentation box and a MyLuxApp-certified written appraisal.

Do your Panerai watches have a warranty?

Every watch we sell comes with a 2-year store warranty on the movement. It is our warranty, not the manufacturer's, and we are an independent dealer, not affiliated with Panerai.

How is a Panerai shipped?

Free insured overnight shipping on orders of $1,000 and up, with signature required. Orders under $1,000 ship for a flat $55.

Can I return it?

Unworn in-stock pieces can be returned: you have 7 days from delivery to start a return. Ask the desk for the details of the process.

How can I pay?

We accept card, with a 3.5% fee and a lower wire price shown beside it, bank wire, crypto arranged through the desk, and Affirm or Klarna on eligible orders.
