What shapes your offer

Which generation it is

The Santos de Cartier of today is a 2018 redesign, with the Santos Galbée.

Medium or large

The current Santos is made in more than one size, and they draw different interest.

Bracelet, links and quick-change parts

On the current Santos, the bracelet can be adjusted without tools and the strap can be swapped quickly.

Steel, two-tone and gold

Steel, steel with gold, and full gold versions are separate conversations.

Before you send it

  • Do not polish or clean the watch before sending it.
  • Keep every removed link, the original tools, and any extra strap that came with it.
  • Photograph the dial, bezel screws, both case sides, the crown and the clasp in daylight.
  • Write down the name on the dial and the reference from the papers or case back, and whether the size is medium or large.
Want to trade instead?

Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.

Questions

Do you buy the current Santos de Cartier?

Yes, when it is valued at $2,000 or more. Send the size, material, bracelet or strap, condition, box and papers, photos and your asking price. A dealer replies with a firm offer, usually the same business day.

Are older Santos models still of interest?

Yes, in some cases. The Galbée, Octagon and Santos 100 are earlier generations. We look at each individually, because their value depends on size, material and condition.

My Santos is quartz. Will you take it?

Possibly. Many quartz Cartier pieces fall below our $2,000 floor, so we look at each one individually. Send the details and a dealer will tell you honestly.

Does a missing box or papers change the offer?

It does, because the next buyer has less to go on. It rarely ends the conversation. Tell us exactly what you have, including the extra strap and tools.

Is the Santos different from the Santos-Dumont?

Yes. The Santos is a square case with visible bezel screws, while the Santos-Dumont is a slim rectangular dress watch. Please make sure you name the right one.

Is the offer final before you see the watch?

The dealer means the offer, but it is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. If it matches your description, the offer stands.

Can I use the value toward another watch?

Yes. Take cash, or apply the full agreed value as trade credit toward any watch we sell. The desk confirms payment details with you.
