What shapes your offer
Size
The Ballon Bleu has been made in a wide run of sizes, from petite to large.
Quartz or automatic
Movement type is the main lever on value for this line.
Steel, two-tone, gold and diamonds
Steel, two-tone and gold cases are separate conversations, and diamond-set versions are judged stone by stone.
Crown stone and case
The blue sapphire cabochon in the crown is the signature, and a chip or scratch is noticed right away.
Before you send it
- Do not polish or clean the watch before sending it.
- Gather the box, certificate, receipts and any extra links or straps.
- Photograph the dial, the crown stone, both case sides and the clasp in daylight.
- Tell us the size and whether it is quartz or automatic.
Your full offer becomes credit toward any watch we sell.
How trade-in worksQuestions
Do you buy the Cartier Ballon Bleu?
Yes, when it is valued at $2,000 or more. Send the size, material, movement, condition, box and papers, photos and your asking price. A dealer replies with a firm offer, usually the same business day.
My Ballon Bleu is quartz. Will you take it?
Possibly. Many quartz Ballon Bleus fall below our $2,000 floor, so we look at each one individually. Send the details and a dealer will tell you honestly.
Does the size change the offer?
Yes. The sizes draw different interest, so please tell us the diameter. If you do not know it, a photo with a ruler beside the watch is enough.
The crown stone is chipped. Should I replace it?
No. Please leave it as it is. A replaced stone is harder to assess than an honest chip, and we would rather see the watch as it is.
I lost the box and certificate. Will that change the offer?
Yes, it changes the offer, because the next buyer has less to go on. It rarely ends the conversation. Tell us exactly what you have.
Is the offer final before you see the watch?
The dealer means the offer, but it is indicative until the watch is inspected on our bench in Los Angeles. If it matches your description, the offer stands.
