When someone describes a pre-owned watch as authenticated, they mean it has been physically examined and confirmed genuine by a qualified party before the sale — not by the listing platform, and not after the money changes hands. The question buyers are really asking is: who checked it, and what do I get if they were wrong?
At My Watch Dealer, every watch passes through our in-house bench at the Downtown Los Angeles trade desk before it is listed. We are not a marketplace aggregating other sellers’ inventory. Every piece we list is our own stock, held here in Los Angeles, confirmed genuine by our bench before it goes up. Nothing is drop-shipped and nothing goes on consignment we have not personally handled.
My Watch Dealer operates a working trade desk inside the Los Angeles jewelry district. Behind the storefront is an active bench where every incoming watch is examined and verified before it lists. Our team includes factory-trained watchmakers who also handle full overhauls, movement repair, and the technical side of our service and repair work — the same people assessing authenticity are the same people doing movement work. Pieces confirmed genuine are listed; pieces that do not clear the bench are not.
We are members of the International Watch & Jewelry Guild (IWJG), the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors (NAWCC), and TAWD. The IWJG is the trade body through which we buy, sell, and trade among other professional dealers — membership means our inventory is priced off the trade number, not a showroom markup, and that we operate under the standards of a working trade guild.

Every watch sold by My Watch Dealer ships with three items regardless of whether it is pre-owned, unworn, or a special order:
Any original manufacturer’s box and papers listed on a product page are in addition to the above — “box & papers,” “box only,” “papers only,” and “watch only” on a listing refer only to the original manufacturer items, not to what we include with every purchase.
Our 2-year store warranty covers the mechanical movement for two years from purchase. It applies to every watch we sell: pre-owned, unworn, special orders, and pieces marked custom or aftermarket. The warranty is provided by My Watch Dealer (Shak Corp) — not by the manufacturer. A manufacturer’s warranty may or may not have survived for a given pre-owned piece, and we do not guarantee that it did.
What the warranty does not cover: the manufacturer’s original warranty, and anything outside the movement — case, crystal, dial, bezel, bracelet and strap are excluded. Change-of-mind returns are handled under our returns policy, not the warranty.
In-stock pieces may be returned within 7 days of delivery, unworn and with everything they shipped with — original manufacturer box and papers (if listed), our presentation box and appraisal, tags and factory stickers all intact. Approved refunds reach your original payment method within 5 business days of the piece clearing our bench. If a watch arrives defective or not as described, tell us within 7 days: we verify the piece, refund every dollar, and cover return shipping. Full terms are on the returns page.
Marketplace platforms aggregate listings from many independent sellers and apply platform-level buyer protection. That is useful, but the authentication standard varies by individual seller, and the entity that verified the watch may be thousands of miles from you and difficult to reach after the sale.
At My Watch Dealer, the desk that authenticates a watch is the same desk that issues the warranty and accepts the return. We are a known entity at a fixed address — 650 S. Hill St., Suite 317, Los Angeles, CA 90014, open Monday through Friday, 10am–6pm Pacific. We are not an authorized dealer for any brand, so we cannot issue manufacturer warranty cards. What we offer instead is a written appraisal, a store warranty, a 7-day return window, and a direct line to the people who handled the watch.
