A beautifully customised presidential icon dressed in white gold, diamonds and a luminous mother-of-pearl dial — available now at My Watch Dealer.

There are dress watches, and then there is the Rolex Day-Date. Since its debut in 1956 it has sat at the very top of the Rolex family — the one reserved for heads of state, captains of industry and anyone who simply refuses to settle. This particular example, dated to 1999, brings all of that pedigree and wraps it in something truly eye-catching.
The case is 36mm of 18-karat white gold — a size that has aged brilliantly, sitting elegantly on almost any wrist without overpowering a cuff or a sleeve. The bezel has been set with a full custom diamond pave, which catches light from every angle and gives the watch an unashamedly glamorous first impression. It is the kind of piece you notice across a dinner table.
Opening the bezel is a custom white mother-of-pearl dial set with diamonds. MOP has a living quality — it shifts from creamy white to soft silver depending on the light — and paired with the diamond hour markers it creates a depth that a printed dial simply cannot match. Day and date windows sit at twelve and three, bold and legible, a reminder that beneath the jewellery there is a serious, precise timepiece.
The watch rides on Rolex's iconic President bracelet, the three-piece semi-circular link design created exclusively for the Day-Date. In white gold it feels substantial and cool against the skin, and the concealed Crownadjust clasp makes sizing straightforward. This is a bracelet that has defined what a luxury watch bracelet should feel like for decades.
This is a pre-owned piece in used condition, circa 1999 — the custom diamond bezel and dial are aftermarket enhancements, so this watch does not carry its original Rolex configuration. It comes without its original box or papers. That is worth knowing up front, and it is reflected in how it is priced. The movement — Rolex's own double-quick-set calibre — has been checked on our in-house bench, and like every watch we sell it is backed by our two-year store warranty covering the movement, a MyLuxApp-certified written appraisal and a presentation box. Returns are accepted within seven days of delivery on unworn pieces, and we ship insured overnight with signature required.
For a collector, the absence of papers on a late-1990s white-gold Day-Date is a common reality; original documentation from that era simply did not always travel with the watch. What matters is the case serial, the condition of the white-gold case and bracelet, and the quality of the diamond work — all of which you are welcome to examine in person at our downtown Los Angeles showroom by appointment.
This is a watch that was built to impress and has lost none of that ability in the years since it left Geneva.
