A steel ref 15000 with a smooth bezel and white Roman dial — built for the wrist a modern 40mm case overwhelms.

Thirty-four millimeters is the size Rolex built for decades, and on a wrist under seven inches it sits the way a watch should — lug to lug, no overhang, the Oyster bracelet following the curve instead of fighting it. The smooth bezel earns its place here. No fluting, no toothy edge, so the case reads as a clean steel disc rather than a thick coin, and the white Roman dial opens the whole face up.
Dressed down, it slides under a cuff and disappears against a rolled sleeve. Dressed up, the Roman numerals and the flat steel do the quiet formal work without demanding a suit. In cold months it wears close under a jacket; in summer the low-profile case stays cool and out of the way.
This one is a 1982, pre-owned, authenticated in-house and serviced by our watchmakers, backed by our store warranty. If a 40mm case swims on you, this is the honest answer.
