How the Two-Tone Submariner 16613 Wears on Smaller Wrists

A 40mm two-tone Sub that sits closer than its spec sheet suggests — here's how the 16613 sits on a narrower wrist.

How the Two-Tone Submariner 16613 Wears on Smaller Wrists

People see 40mm and assume a slab. The 16613 doesn't wear that way. The case is 40mm across but the lugs are short and curl down early, so the watch sits inside a 6.5-inch wrist instead of hanging over the bone. The Oyster bracelet tapers toward the clasp, which keeps the weight centered and stops the whole thing from sliding around.

The steel-and-yellow-gold mix does the rest. Gold center links catch light and draw the eye to the middle of the watch, so it reads trimmer than an all-steel Sub of the same size. The blue dial and blue bezel keep it from tipping into flash — it's warm, not loud.

Dress it down with a rolled sleeve and it looks like a watch you actually wear. Push the cuff over it under a jacket and the gold earns its keep. This one is a 1990 piece, pre-owned, authenticated and serviced in-house, and backed by our store warranty.

If a two-tone Sub has felt too big on you before, try this one on before you decide. Stock MWDW9957.
