Wrist fit is a market signal, and the pre-owned crowd keeps paying up for the case size that actually wears well.
Walk any watch counter and you'll notice the same thing we do: the 40mm dive watch moves. It sells, it trades, it comes back around. The 44s and 45s that flooded the market a decade ago sit longer, and they sit cheaper. That gap tells you something about what buyers actually want once the trend cools.
Fit drives it. A 40mm case, with lugs that don't hang off the wrist, works on a 6.5-inch wrist and a 7.5-inch wrist alike. That range is most of the buying public. When a watch fits most people, the pool of second-hand buyers stays deep, and a deep pool keeps prices steady. Liquidity is just another word for how many people can wear the thing.
Condition still decides the number. A 40mm diver with a sharp case, clean bezel insert, and honest lume reads well and prices well. Redials, swollen crowns, and worn-through plating knock real money off, more than most sellers expect. On the classic sizes, buyers are pickier, because they have options.
Why bring it up now. The oversized run has largely worn off, and the pieces that held their footing are the ones that fit. We're not promising anything about where prices go next; nobody honest can. We're telling you what trades briskly on our floor and what we're comfortable buying back.
